I love natural brows!

I recently opened up Vanity Fair's Hollywod Issue
to a page with Elle Fanning and Haillee Steinfeld
My first reaction was LORDY EYEBROWS
Their ungroomed, untouched eyebrows were a shocker in an industry of perfect arches-
And you know what?
As much as I love a really delightfully groomed brow, I LOVEEEE IT!
Now, young stars have been sporting naturally unruly brows for a while:
(thats Brooke Shields if you didn't already know :D)
But lately the natural, fresh faced look has been making a resurgence in young hollywood.
Carey Mulligan
Ellen Page
Mia Wasokowska
Dakota Fanning

It accents the youth in their features, and I think it's utterly refreshing!
What do you think? Would you ever go au natural?

Mona Lisa's Mega-Gem Makeover

What do you do with a 30-year collection of precious gemstones? If you're an anonymous Chinese collector with an affinity for Da Vinci, you create a 100,000-carat replica of the Mona Lisa and put it on display in a local shopping mall.

And you thought The Real Housewives had too much leisure time?

The carat-heavy creation is thought to be the most expensive replica of the masterwork and perhaps the most expensive artwork ever made - taking five years to complete.

While many strange materials have been utilized in the past as the basis for Mona Lisa duplicates - including coffee cups, pieces of toast, motherboard components and even burger grease - jewels and gems are apparently a first.

So what's the price tag for macked-out Mona? The secretive designer won't reveal the final number - which is sure to be hefty one if it goes on the auction block later this year.

In the meantime, mall rats can marvel at Mona in between stops at the Shenyang shopping center food court and accessory splurges at Claire's.

How To: Feather Extensions

If you are from the Pacific Northwest,
chances are over the last few months you have seen someone sporting feather extensions.
Long rooster feathers are crimped onto strands of hair using crimping beads,
and once in can be washed and styled like the rest of your hair-
you can even use low heat hot tools on them!
Many salons offer this service, but for up to 20$ a "bead"
Here is how to put them in your own hair at a fraction of the price!

Materials:
*Feathers
Feather Goddess offers the best prices,
and a great high quality selection of colors and styles
I chose white for my hair
*Beads-
available at any craft store,
try and get the smallest ones possible, they will be more inconspicuous
*Crimper- also available from craft stores
*Floss- to thread your hair into the bead

1) Choose your location
2) Fold floss over a few strands of hair, thread your bead onto the floss
3) Using the floss, pull your hair through the bead
4) Thread your feather(s) in- I put two in every bead.
Leave a little extra up at the top so that the feather doesn't break when you crimp it
5) Using your crimping tool, squeeze the bead shut TIGHTLY.
5) Cut off the extra at the top
6) VOILA!!!
Stay lovely!

A Day in 'Dena

Hi Friends! Today was one of those days (in Southern California, at least) where Spring, even Summer was definitely in the air. Of course, I probably better appreciated such days after long, rainy winters in Seattle, but still...

(Top, thrifted; Jeans; thrifted, shoes, Steve Madden; bag & scarf, thrifted; bracelet, self-made)

We visited the Crossroads consignment shop in Pasadena for the first time... four words: HIGH WAISTED SAILOR JEANS. For $12.

Spent the evening at the Norton Simon Museum (it's free for students and has the most incredible impressionist collection I've ever seen at such a small museum)

What are your plans for this weekend?

Jersey Shore's 'Sammi' Launches Jewelry Collection

What's the first thing you think of when you think of Jersey Shore's Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola? Whiny, pouty breakups with Ronnie? Whiny, pouty make-ups with Ronnie? A mean right hook?

While 'jewelry' certainly isn't a 'top-of-mind' part of her winning personality, now the world can rest easy because there's a new 'whiny, pouty jewelry line' on the block to fill the fashion void.

The long-limbed guidette just launched 'Sammi Sweetheart" jewelry with RichRocks - a 7-piece costume collection that plays off her 'sweetheart' image. There are (shocker!) heart-shaped pendants, crystal layer bracelets and Jersey Girl staple  - huge hoop earrings  - available along with other heart-warming styles.

But most importantly? Sammi takes pride in giving her fans a 'sweetheart' deal on price points.

“I love that the RichRocks brand and my collection retails for just under $100,” she tells PEOPLE. “It was very important for me to keep all of the pieces affordable for my fans so they can purchase more than one piece and add to the collection. I have created some great fun and flirty pieces to wear day into night.”

It's a spray-tanned twist on 'fashion meets function'. The "Sammi Sweetheart for RichRocks" collection launches today here.

And here's a link back to my Jersey Shore Jewelry Primer if you can't get enough. You know who you are, America.

Choose Happiness

Hello Lovelies,
On top of it all, with everything going on in Japan, this week has no doubt been a hard one.
Despite it all, here are a few things to smile about:

BOOKS
Pixar Films
Lavender tea
The Walla Walla Windfarm
A Glee-ful kiss
Of course, it does no good to forget about other people's happiness as well,
so here are a few ways to help Japan:

Human compassion is an amazing thing.
If thats not something to smile about, we don't know what is.

Lady Gaga Jewelry for Japan

Lady Gaga is one of many celebrities using their star power to raise money for Japan's earthquake relief efforts - and her monster brigade is already bringing in loads of cash in record time.

MTVnews reported yesterday that Gaga's self-designed "We Pray for Japan" bracelets raised a whopping $250,000 in two days. The white-and-red wristband features Gaga's trademark monster-paw hand gesture and sells for $5 on her website (but you can opt to give a larger donation of up to $100).

The pop-star tweeted,

"I Designed a Japan Prayer Bracelet. Buy It/Donate here and ALL proceeds will go to Tsunami Relief Efforts. Go Monsters."

She is also encouraging her fans to donate to the campaign established by Google CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, via Citizen Effect, a philanthropic website that relies on social media to generate donations for various causes. The couple plans to match the first $100,000 donated to help the American Red Cross in its relief efforts.

Spread the word and the wealth, jewelry hounds.
