AWARDS SHOW MANIA: THE OSCARS

Well, that was awkward.
At least, that's what I found myself thinking after sitting through 3 hours of this years Oscars.
James Franco was devoid of personality,
(but his grandma was great, "I just saw Marky Mark!")
and basically all Anne Hathaway did was change dresses a million times and go "WOOO!"
Oh boy...
Well, perhaps due to shock from the utter horror that was watching the event live,
I actually find myself with out much snarkysharky.
Even where, as Berit pointed out, there was an excess of glitter and fluff,
I really didn't mind.
But I grew up on stage, so glitter and fluff are basically my two best friends.
So, deepest apologies for those who enjoy my diva rants, here are my thoughts:
Sandra Bullock,
fresh off of a seriously eventful year,
looks absolutely stunning-
the dress is a jolt of fresh color,
the silhouette is boldly sculpted yet still graceful.
Plus, she speaks fluent german.
Amy Adams
I love gingers, I love blue, I love sparkles. Rock on.
Halle Berry's Marchesa gown was really beautiful.
But on her, with her incredible skin, perfect pixie cut,
delightful makeup, and gigantic Chopard earrings...
breath taking.
I liked most of the dresses that Anne Hathaway wore,
but this was my favorite.
Very different from any other designs of the night,
the color is incredible, her body looks amazing,
and this is the best hairstyle she wore.
Scarlett Johansson!
oh wait no... its that chick from Winters Bone
(which you all need to see)
As for the real Lady Lost in Translation,
Berit has her thoughts, and I have mine:
saggy boobed lacy sea monster
and haphazardly applied tangerine eyeshadow?
(you knew that I was gonna be at least a LITTLE bit catty :D)
Haley Steinfeld.
an adorable, sweet, princessy, little cupcake dress
a totally precious, talented young actress
I loved her fresh, simple makeup
age appropriate, and with those lashes and that skin,
she looks amazing!
I love that she has left her eyebrows be-
they just add to her youthful charm!
And if all that wasn't cute enough for you:
Helena Bonkers Carter brought the kook in a dress designed by
winner for Best Costume Design (for Alice in Wonderland)
and the more I see of her, the more I just want to be her friend.
She seems so fun and weird!
Michele Williams
Without looking like a grandma,
Ms. Retro manages to find a refined, utterly lovely dress
that suits her pale, vintage, understated style wonderfully-
LOVE the short sleeves!
And check the updated 60's makeup,
all silver eye and peachy lip,
LOVE it!
Continuing her parade of totally awesome dresses,
Florence Welch rocks this creation,
which on any one else would have looked beyond strange.
Penelope Cruz.
um. she had a baby 2 WEEKS AGO.
is there an award of the person I am most jealous of?
that dress is so fun and sassy,
she is so sexy and talented,
her husband is so sexy and talented,
they BOTH already have oscars...
and with all that post-partum glow she looks even better than usual
who knew that was possible?
Miss Selena Gomez's basic red dress.
Plus, I adore her date.
(lets be real, I have the Fever)

Some golden moments from the show included:
Celine Dion, looking like a Canadian angel,
singing "smile" during the touching tribute montage
winning Best Art Direction for Alice in Wonderland,
Robert Stromberg and Karen O'hara put miniature Mad Hatter hats on their oscars.
This awesome NYU grad, who won for Best Short Film for Love
He was so cute and thanked his mom for doing craft services
and his girlfriend for composing the score.

And when
Inception won an award for Best Visual Effects,
I just knew that somewhere,
Joseph Gordon Levitt was all

So, there you have it,
a week late :D
Stay lovely

Further Elaboration on the People's Choice Awards

1) I WANT leighton meester's dress!!!
but her blush is frighteningly garish
2) PIRATE EXCELLENCE
John Christopher Depp III
I wish i could be his best friend...
we could sail the open seas,
run around on his private island,
drink fine wine,
talk about cryptozoology,
pay for everything in solid gold,
watch for the green flash on the horizon (it's a real thing!)
and just engage in general pirate-y pleasures

i know i don't know how to edit a photo
squint a little
Mikaeyla Michalka
(from Phil of the Future!!!)
doing her best to look like a piratey wench

4) DISCONCERTINGLY TAN DISNEY STARS
come ON sharpay. you can do better.\
is it just me or does he look oddly Latino?
She IS latina, so maybe this is a real color?
(if you are confused, yes she did wear two dresses. and yes, this one sucked)

5) THATS SO RAVEN
Honey, just because its your namesake,
doesn't mean you have to dress like a (skanky) bird.
otherwise Moses and Apple Martin are in big trouble.

6) INSANELY HIGH HEELS
the boys escorted Miss Stewart
-who looked very much the vampire (glittertits!) in that very tiny dress-
and her 5 1/2 inch Jimmy Choos
up to accept their award for Favorite Movie.
Also, her normally unkept hair looked DEEEEVINE!
So many people dislike her,
but I have this crazy infatuation with Kristen Stewart.
Be ready for a post on her soon.

Katy Perry's dress was, as Berit said, pure confection,
but those shoes?
6 inches of pure pink toe destruction!

7) PWN
That J.Mendel dress that Miss
I'm-so-very-innocent-but-I-still-manage-to-date-30-year-olds-and-John-Mayer
bored the death out of?
Well, Natalie Portman wore it on the cover of Vogue this month.
And, I must say, she went total black swan
and danced (pregnant!) circles around that little perma-smirker

mmm it took me 6 hours to create this post...
only for you my lovelies!

People's Choice Awards' Fabs and FAILS

Due to my lack of younger siblings Selena Gomez will never have any real relevance to my life or fashion opinions, but this dress is really cute and youthful on her without aging her.

Even though I hadn't the faintest idea of who Ashley Benson was before I looked her up on Wikipedia, this dress is really fascinating to look at and fits her really well. I'm also happy that she didn't do something foolish like over-accessorize and ruin the effect of the dress. She pulls of the dying fad of one-sleeved dresses nicely.

Katy Perry's face says it all, which is, "LOL THANKS BETSEY JOHNSON FOR MAKING ME A FAIRY PRINCESS!!!!!!1!!" All she needs is a wand that blows bubbles and the look is complete. I LOVE IT (And hey, at least she's not wearing fruit!).

Although Lyndsy Fonesca's look would probably have been better as a whole if it had been styled to look more formal and red carpet-y, this dress is suuuuper classy- and how cool are the feather details?

How does one keep one's cooter concealed when wearing a dress this short? Kristen Stewart could have left an inch or two on the hem and it still would have looked edgy and fitting for her style.

Taylor Swift decided to WOW us with a shocking new foray into fashion... oh wait. Never mind. She's wearing a flow-y, flesh-y toned dress, AGAIN. As if having only one facial expression wasn't boring enough.

Kate Walsh has been receiving a lot of praise for this look on the interwebs (notice the shoes, plz, pointy-toed heels are making a comeback), but her dress has kind of a Forever21-y vibe, don't you think? I'm not a huge fan of dresses with lots of tucking and draping like that.

Natalie Portman is looking SO cute in this baby bump-concealing dress, and at the risk of sounding as if I know her, this is totally something she would wear. And the shoes add a nice little pop as well!

It's funny how some celebrities choose to conceal their prego bellies and others... well...

Tee Hee!

Hmm did I miss any gems?
