The Oscars: Berit's Top 5 Wins

Since Claire is the clever, snarky, hilarious one, I'll let her cover the nitty-gritties of the Oscars.

Here's my five favorites, in no particular order, from this past Sunday night:

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbanna (a design house that I am totally falling in love with). It's such a beautiful color, a wonderful fit, and it's very unique -a breath of fresh air from all the sequins and feathers and flesh tones.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab. This could have gone incredibly grandma's drapes-y, but the color, fit, and design is just perfect. *Drools*

Gwyneth Paltrow in Michael Kors. It's just so... interesting to look at. Also, probably the first design of Kors' that I've ever actually liked.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy. Cate Blanchette is so cool anyway, and her gown really fits her persona perfectly. That's 2/5 for lavender-y shaded designs.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive. Some people didn't like it, but it's just this beautiful liquid-y fabric in such an electric color that is already big this season.

What were your favorite looks from this years' Oscars?!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week! I just saw Poet Laureate Billy Collins (read his poem ''Litany") read at my school, and he is basically amazing. I'd like to adopt him as my uncle.

AWARDS SHOW MANIA: SCREEN ACTORS GUILD

ALOOOOOHA
The SAG Awards happened,
which means THE OSCARS ARE GETTING CLOSER!!
And geez hooliah, most everyone looked incredible!
Way better than the Critics Choice!
Here are my thoughts:
The Good:
Amber Riley in Ann Barge
SO PERFECT
diva-esque, and body conscious!
Julia Stiles in Monique Lhuiller
LOVE!
January Jones in Carolina Herrera
Different, but it totally works
Natalie Portman in Azzaro
BABY BELLY!
fertility goddess!
Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen
BAAAAAAAH
<3>
like she popped on a beautiful white dress,
went all Lady McBeth on someone,
and instead of being like "out out damn spot!!"
she just ROCKED IT and was like,
BLACK SWAN BITCHES.
So long that 70s show!

The Bad:
Amy Adams in Herve Ledger
TOTALLY washes her out
Nicole Kidman in Nina Ricci
something about this look just creeps me out.
she looks like an orphaned teenager from a tim burton movie
who gains strength from burning dolls and eats spiderwebs
or something.

The Beauty:
Natalie Portman
Makeup by Eileen Kastner-Delago
Hair by Orlando Pita
her signature shimmery smokey eye, this makeup is stunning,
(but the hair is strange, aging, and flat)

Lea Michele

Makeup by Melanie Inglessis

Hair by Mark Townsend for Dove

beyond simple, minimal but so lovely.

check those lashes!

Tina Fey
Makeup by Gita Bass
Hair by Richard Marin
Classy, Classy, Classy.

and my favorite of the night:
Helena Bonham Carter, looking adorable!
still her kookywooky self, but tucked in and toned down.
her shoes match, the dress is fun, and her hair
-still big and random-
has been brushed and styled.

AWARDS SHOW MANIA: GOLDEN GLOBES

"It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking. Or, as Charlie Sheen calls it: Breakfast"
-Ricky Gervais, hosting the awards.
I love the Golden Globes, its like the junior prom!
Here are my thoughts:
1) Awkwardly Gathered Green
(helmet hair) (static cling?!) (???????)
2) WEIRD PINK
(so much sideboob) (a sick, pepto bismol mess)
3) FLOWER POWER
(lets just forget this and move on) (LOVE IT)
4) BEYONCE IS LOOKING FOR HER DRESS
(but poor annie is trying her hardest to rock it)
5) GO BIG OR GO HOME
(I adore Helena in all her strange glory! the shoes? LOVE!)
6) PULL BACK YOUR BANGS
(lovely dress tho) (you look like a gothic taylor swift)
7) PREEEEEETTTY!!!
(LOVE the longer sleeves) (perfection!)
8) BLUE IS THE BEST COLOR
(so pulled together!) (love the overlay!)
9) Emma Stone. You deserve no capitol letters.
